RGM-96X Jesta: E.F.S.F. Special Operations Mobile Suit. Master Grade, 1/100 scale. This mobile suit was featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn OVAs.
Deja vu anyone? Yes, another Jesta post. As you can probably tell, I really like this mobile suit. It doesn’t look flashy, but it can get the job done. The military look and the rifle design are just fantastic. This is the second Master Grade I’ve ever made, the first being the Shin Musha in 2010. I stick to the HGUCs since they’ve got more selection, lower price-point, and they take up less space (some do anyways). I had to make an exception for the Jesta of course. This kit was purchased off of AmiAmi, since R4L seems to be taking their sweet time with their MG Jesta pre-orders.
Kit was panel-lined, no top-coat. I took extra care in my nub removal and sanding on this one. I also opted for the red LED option, because why not? It’s my favorite grunt suit. As you can tell, the battery was starting to die near the end of the photo-shoot. My own fault, as I kept messing with it and admiring how cool it looked as I was building the thing.
Overall, this is a great kit. It’s got great articulation and details, just like its HGUC brother. Some features are the deployable Beam Saber in the left forearm, the removable E-Packs in the right forearm, and a weapon rack to hold the Beam Carbine on the back skirt. The hands are a new design that was introduced with the Nu Gundam (I got distracted for like an hour playing with the hands).The legs are deceptive, as they initially seem to only have a 90 degree bend. They can extend, thus allowing kneeling poses to be taken. The kit is molded in all the correct colors, which means I don’t have to paint anything (you can if that’s your thing), which means no OCD for me! Finally, the LED option is just icing on the cake.
For negatives, the part that connects the shield to the backpack can wear out easily, causing it to fall off. A little drop of superglue to replace the worn away nub that held the arm in place worked perfectly in fixing that. On the shield, the light blue parts that go around the missles seem a little snug. A huge stress line in the plastic formed when I assembled that piece, so I had to sand down the missle a little to reduce it (sanded part is hidden by the cover). Final negative is in the same place. Just like the HGUC, the light blue parts that go around the shield missles sometimes break from the gate on their own in the box. So unless you plan on using putty and painting it, you may have some ugly gate marks there.

RGM 96-X Jesta Cannon: E.F.S.F. Special Operations Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale. This suit was featured in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn’s 6th OVA.
A heavy assault variant of my favorite mobile suit, the RGM-96X Jesta. The Jesta was the first modern Gundam kit I bought (not including the MG Shin Musha that I bought in 2010). This suit is what started my craze, so of course I had to get the Cannon. The Jesta looks awesome enough, but then you add bigass guns and armor and it just gets better. The armor segments add a nice variety to the all dark colors of the Jesta. I just wish that the Tri-Stars team would actually DO something in the OVAs. You see them get a little action throughout, but I wanna see them in full combat, not just giving support on their Base Jabbers.
For this kit, I recycled a lot of parts from one of my old Jestas (I have 3, might as well save shelf-space). The only parts of from Jesta Cannon kit I actually built were the legs, shoulders, cannon assembly, front-skirts, beam rifle, and any other exclusively Cannon part. This saved me a lot of trouble when it came to painting. Parts painted are the Yellow V-fin on the crotch, shoulder verniers painted black and dark grey, filled in weapon barrels with black paint, grey details on the backpack. Stickers used were all the orange camera stickers (head & beam rifle). The head’s left targeting sensor used metallic green Gundam Marker, but my OCD and desire for consistency made me replace this with hand cut seals. This is not reflected in this pics, because it happened afterwards. Kit is panel-lined, no top-coat. There is top coat on the V-fin, back skirt-thrusters, and grey details on the backpack, just so I have better chance of the paint not chipping and driving me insane.

AMS-129 Geara Zulu [Angelo Sauper Use]: Neo Zeon Mass-Produced Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale.
Three Zulus built, 2 left. I have a second Guards type in the works and a Zee Zulu in my queue, but that won’t be started anytime soon. I noticed that this photoset is a little short on pics, mainly because Angelo’s suit is kind of limited in posing. Getting him to hold the Lange Bruno Gun Kai properly was a real pain. Ended up scratching a lot of paint off of his sleeves trying to position it. That caused me to have to retouch it a few times.
Just like the other Zulus, the chest, collars and sleeves were primed black, hand-painted white, then sealed with Mr. Super Clear. The rest of the decoration was just hand-painted white and panel lined. No top-coat aside from parts mentioned. Pink Gundam marker used for lens on the gun. Stickers used include the pink mono-eye, the Neo Zeon symbol on the shield, and the Guards symbol on the helmet.

NZ-666 Kshatriya: Neo Zeon Prototype Mobile Suit for Newtype. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale.
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! To celebrate, here’s a nice green Neo-Zeon suit. Kind of like a four-leave clover with the wings, but not really.
I became a huge fan of Marida Cruz watching Gundam Unicorn. The only reason I watched Gundam ZZ was because I wanted to find out about Elpeo Ple, the pilot that Marida (Ple Twelve) was cloned from. She’s got such great backstory, so of course I had to get her personal mobile suit. Just like its model number (NZ-666), this thing is a beast.
I had originally built this in October, but never really completed it until recently. I wanted to try the reverse-wash technique on the Kshatriya’s chest and wrist pieces, but after several attempts/failures on the Geara Zulu, I abandoned the idea and ended up hand-painting it recently. Some imperfections, but still looks pretty good, I think. Chest and sleeves were primed flat black and the designs were hand-painted white. After some clean-up, sealed the parts with Tamiya Semi-Gloss Clear (TS-79). Kit is panel-lined, no top-coat (aside from the chest and wrist).

AMS-129 Geara Zulu: Neo Zeon Mass-Productive Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale.
Yup, finally decided to build my Zulus. They’ve been on the back-burner for a long time now. I really was not looking forward to painting all the Sleeves designs. After experimenting numerous times with the Reverse-Wash technique, I just couldn’t get it to look good. All collars, chest pieces, and sleeves were cleaned and primed flat-black. Sleeves designs were hand-painted white and then sealed with Mr. Super Flat. Kit was panel lined, no top-coat (except for what I just mentioned). In addition to the Sleeves designs, all white on the suit is hand-painted. Stickers used were the mono-eye, weapon cameras, and the little shield on the helmet.
Expect more Zulu variants in the near future! The kit I pre-ordered is supposed to arrive next week, so there might be a Federation suit to break this Zeon marathon I’ve been having.

MS-09F Dom Tropen: Principality of Zeon Mass Produced Valiant-Type Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale. The Dom Tropen, a Dom designed to operate primarily in tropical and desert environments, was featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory. It also makes an appearance in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn as part of the Zeon Remnants on Earth.
Unicorn is what made me want to pick up this kit, especially this sand brown variant. The way the Doms sped across the battlefield, gliding around enemy fire always looked badass. Unfortunately, the bulky appearance of the suit makes more dynamic posing difficult.
As usual, this kit is panel-lined, no top-coat. For paint, black for the vents on the feet, red for the Scattering Beam Gun (not that you can see it or anything), and spray-painted the Heat Saber white. Only sticker used was the green foil mono-eye, but I think that was the only sticker included anyways.
If you couldn’t tell, I’m trying to make 2013 a Zeon heavy year.

MS-06F-2 Zaku II F2: Principality of Zeon Mass Produced Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale. This Zaku was featured in Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.
I liked how this Zaku looked compared to the original HGUC Zakus, so I picked him up. It’s also my first Zaku, so there’s that. I actually completed this on January 6th, but decided to wait on posting it. I wanted to finish 3 kits before I started posting, but 2 will have to do, since the 3rd requires me to paint.
This kit was panel-lined, no top-coat. Only paint added was dark gray Gundam marker and black paint to leg thrusters/vents/things. Only sticker used was the pink mono-eye.

My Christmas gunpla! The High Grade Universal Century RX-0 Unicorn Gundam 02 Banshee [Destroy Mode]: Full Psycho-Frame Prototype Mobile Suit, 1/144 scale. I had started this directly after completing both the ECOAS Jegan and the Marasai in the beginning of December, but due to my fingers being sliced to hell by my hobby knife, I took a break to heal up. I had finished the upper body before Christmas and worked on the entire lower body while my nephews worked on their kits.
Wasn’t going to pick this up, but after watching the 5th OVA, I just had to get it. Bought it from one of my friends during the summer who wanted it to go to a good home. As usual, this kit is just panel-lined with no top-coat. I actually used a lot of the stickers, including all the gold ones for the legs, the navy blue covering the shoulder vulcans (whatever those things are), and the eyes. Might replace the navy blue one at the base of the horn, but depends how lazy I am.

Merry Christmas! Hope ya’ll have been having an awesome holiday weekend. Pretty good on my side. Got my nephews some Gundams for christmas, but forgot to snap a pic of the older neph’s gunpla. I gave the younger one the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam because it’s classic and pretty easy to make…maybe too easy. The older one got a RGM-86R GMIII. Pretty interesting sight, seeing me and both my nephews just building Gundams on the floor next to the Christmas tree (I’ll post the one I made later today). This was near the end of the night, so most of the festivities had ended.
My sis found it funny that this was the first time I was leading a crafting session for once. Normally it’s her with the nieces making jewelry. They finished in like 3-4 hours. Me…not so much. I even had a head start since the entire upper body was done earlier in the month. It’s just the task of removing excess plastic from the runners and sanding/buffing them out, along with panel lining made my process a lot longer than theirs. Finished it this morning while they were watching tv/playing video-games.
I got some cool gifts, but I’ll save that for another post.

Here it is! A kinda-sorta Zeon Mobile Suit. The RMS-108 Marasai: Neo Zeon Attack Use Mobile Suit. This thing has a really convoluted history. It was originally going to be the AEUG’s new suit, then the Titans got a hold of it, then the E.F.S.F. abandoned it after the Gryps conflict, then Neo Zeon and the Zeon remnants picked it up…
Anyways, I always thought it looked cool, but I just never really liked the Titans color scheme. The Zeon Remnant colors seemed more fitting. I really think that the 4th ova of Unicorn was my favorite because of all the old (grunt) suits that popped up and fought. Usual build, just panel-lining without top coat. Only stickers used were the mono-eye and rear camera. Sorry for the lack of action-base action. All I have is an Action-Base 1 which does not have a 6mm attachment. I should really buy an Action-Base 2.
I finally finished watching Gundam ZZ, so I can finally move on to Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory!
Hey hey! I’ve been busy with work and all of this fall’s latest games, so I haven’t really had time to do any building lately. However, I did want to get at least ONE gunpla made for the month of November, so here it is! The RGM-89De Jegan [ECOAS TYPE]: E.F.S.F. Special Operations Mobile Suit. Another E.F.S.F grunt suit, but a good looking one at that. I really like the military color scheme with the dark olive and desert tan. In terms of looks, to me, it is second only to the Jesta.
Standard build from me, only sticker used was the foil one for the rear head camera. Painted details consist of the extra sensors on the forehead, the white and black thruster details on the shoulder armor, the white thrusters on the sides of the legs, and V on the crotch. Panel-lined, no top coat.
Enjoy the pics! Maybe my next build will be a Zeon mobile suit, though all the “Sleeves” detailing always discourages me and I end up building another Feddie suit.
