Merry Christmas! Hope ya’ll have been having an awesome holiday weekend. Pretty good on my side. Got my nephews some Gundams for christmas, but forgot to snap a pic of the older neph’s gunpla. I gave the younger one the HGUC RX-78-2 Gundam because it’s classic and pretty easy to make…maybe too easy. The older one got a RGM-86R GMIII. Pretty interesting sight, seeing me and both my nephews just building Gundams on the floor next to the Christmas tree (I’ll post the one I made later today). This was near the end of the night, so most of the festivities had ended.

My sis found it funny that this was the first time I was leading a crafting session for once. Normally it’s her with the nieces making jewelry. They finished in like 3-4 hours. Me…not so much. I even had a head start since the entire upper body was done earlier in the month. It’s just the task of removing excess plastic from the runners and sanding/buffing them out, along with panel lining made my process a lot longer than theirs. Finished it this morning while they were watching tv/playing video-games.

I got some cool gifts, but I’ll save that for another post.

Stop-Motion Test (by Neil Castillo)

Just a little something I threw together at 1am while recovering from my fever. It got real late, so I did without cool muzzle flashes. Maybe on the next one. Not bad for a first attempt at stop motion, i think.

Here it is! A kinda-sorta Zeon Mobile Suit. The RMS-108 Marasai: Neo Zeon Attack Use Mobile Suit. This thing has a really convoluted history. It was originally going to be the AEUG’s new suit, then the Titans got a hold of it, then the E.F.S.F. abandoned it after the Gryps conflict, then Neo Zeon and the Zeon remnants picked it up…

Anyways, I always thought it looked cool, but I just never really liked the Titans color scheme. The Zeon Remnant colors seemed more fitting. I really think that the 4th ova of Unicorn was my favorite because of all the old (grunt) suits that popped up and fought. Usual build, just panel-lining without top coat. Only stickers used were the mono-eye and rear camera. Sorry for the lack of action-base action. All I have is an Action-Base 1 which does not have a 6mm attachment. I should really buy an Action-Base 2.

I finally finished watching Gundam ZZ, so I can finally move on to Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack and Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory!

Hey hey! I’ve been busy with work and all of this fall’s latest games, so I haven’t really had time to do any building lately. However, I did want to get at least ONE gunpla made for the month of November, so here it is! The RGM-89De Jegan [ECOAS TYPE]: E.F.S.F. Special Operations Mobile Suit. Another E.F.S.F grunt suit, but a good looking one at that. I really like the military color scheme with the dark olive and desert tan. In terms of looks, to me, it is second only to the Jesta.

Standard build from me, only sticker used was the foil one for the rear head camera. Painted details consist of the extra sensors on the forehead, the white and black thruster details on the shoulder armor, the white thrusters on the sides of the legs, and V on the crotch. Panel-lined, no top coat.

Enjoy the pics! Maybe my next build will be a Zeon mobile suit, though all the “Sleeves” detailing always discourages me and I end up building another Feddie suit.

Tadaa!!! It’s finally done! The RGZ-95C ReZEL Type-C: E.F.S.F. Mass-Produced Transformable Mobile Suit [General Revil Deployment]. I started this while I was waiting for the paint to cure on that other kit (I have no idea when I’ll be able to spray again). It’s been done, just had to paint black inside the verniers. I painted the yellow “V” on the crotch, but used stickers for the surrounding orange, because let’s face it: I don’t have orange paint and I sure as hell didn’t feel like buying some. Aside from that, I just painted the dark grey section behind the boner. As usual, the kit is panel lined, but not top-coated.

I never liked the ReZEL before, that is until I saw the General Revil versions in the 5th OVA of Gundam UC. That color scheme just appealed to me. I didn’t want the Denfenser-B unit (yet), so I got the P-Bandai Hobby Exclusive off of gginfinite.

Here’s my newest kit, one of my souvenirs from Otakon 2012. The High Grade Universal Century MSN-07B-3 Gouf Custom: Principality of Zeon Ground Battle Type Mobile Suit. I’m a big fan of 08th MS Team and Norris Packard was the most badass pilot in that series. As per usual, this kit is only panel lined.

In case anyone’s been wondering: Yes, I’m still building gunpla in my free time. The reason why there haven’t been any delicious Mobile Suit posts is because I’ve been extremely busy recently and my backlog of models to be made is getting bigger. Also, because I’ve come to realize that I don’t like painting like I did in the past. I’m extremely OCD when it comes to painting something. I used to do Warhammer 40k, but that hobby got real expensive and time consuming. Especially when I kept going back to some models to try to fix “imperfections” that only I could see. Had to meet MY standards at any angle, any light. I would then screw up and ended up stripping the paint and starting the model over. My college roomates know this for a fact.
That’s the reason why I don’t put on decals or paint my gunpla, except for small details. That’s what’s taking the Stark Jegan so long to finish and why the Sinanju is on hiatus. I’m not completely against using stickers, but I prefer to paint the gold trim on the Sinanju and the Jegan’s yellow highlights annoy me, cause that color always gives me trouble (Also, why doesn’t the Stark Jegan come with ANY seals for the head cameras and the missle camera?! Had to make my own).
Anyways, enough of that rant. Just so you think I didn’t build anything in the month of June, here is my Jesta team. The Jesta on the left and right were made in June, and I added small details like painted the V on the crotch, green for the mini camera on the head, and gray on the backpack. The V on the crotch and the thrusters on the back skirt are two “OCD” areas mentioned, with the stripping and redoing happening a lot. I think I’ve gotten them as good as they’re gonna get. [Update 7/7/12: Crap, OCD kicked in on the back skirt and I messed up again. Ffffffuuuuuuck!]
Just need some Base Jabbers coming in July or August! Once the Jegan is finished, I’m trying decide to either make the Master Grade Astray Red Frame I got in my trip to Disney’s Epcot, or one of the Real Grade Gundam MK.IIs I ordered. Probably gonna go with the MK.II since I’m watching Zeta Gundam now.

Here’s the next suit! The RX-0 Unicorn Gundam (Destroy Mode): Full Psycho-Frame Prototype Mobile Suit. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale. Completed on 5/11/12. To be honest, I wasn’t that excited to build this figure, as I only picked it up because I felt that I had to, especially with all the Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn kits I’ve been picking up. Didn’t get hyped until after I finished it and just looked at it. It is just an awesome looking Gundam. Enjoy the photos. My next kit will be playing for the Sleeves. It’ll be a “second coming”…

[UPDATE]

Due to lack of proper (i.e. not dried out) paint supplies, the Sleeves kit is on hiatus. Looks like the Feddies’ numbers are growing…

MS-05L Zaku I Sniper Type (Yonem Kirks Custom), Principality of Zeon Mass-Produced Mobile Suit Sniper Use. High Grade Universal Century, 1/144 scale. Construction started and completed on 5/7/12. Mad respect for Kirks in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn episode 4 “At the Bottom of the Gravity Well”. My next kit will be a Feddie suit, and a prominent one at that. A “beast of possibility…”

Latest work! The RX-79(G) E.F.S.F. First Production Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team. Today was my only day off of work this week, so I committed my entire day to building this kit. Building Gundams just relaxes me for some reason, and it gets me so focused that time just flies.
