Hope everyone had a happy Easter weekend! Here’s an update so you guys know I’m still kicking around. What makes taking figure pictures even more fun? When you have cool props they can interact with! Fun Fact: These were stuck in customs in New York since 3/18/14 and I just got them this week, a month later. Thanks a lot USPS, yet again. Partly my own fault for not chipping in extra for EMS. To make up for lost time, I built ‘em all this past weekend. As you can see, I grabbed 3 out of the 4 Memorial Games Collection series by Wave. These are 1/12 plastic model kits, the perfect size for figmas. Simple construction, excellent stickers (never thought I’d be so impressed by stickers), and they just look fantastic. Purchased from AmiAmi.

I got the Persona 4: The Ultimax Ultra Suplex Hold, Taiko: Drum Master, and THE iDOLM@STER sets. I didn’t get the Street Figher cabinet because it was always sold out or more than I was willing to pay (I probably wasn’t looking hard enough, but whatever.

I used zero paint and a majority, if not all the stickers for every one. One exception was for the Persona 4 Cabinet. It had a really elaborate folding one that made the light blue on both ends of the console into a dark blue. There are way too many angles and bends for that sticker to stay on, let alone look good. I think that light blue looks awesome anyway. Aside from that, just stuck some panel-lining here and there. Each cabinet comes with a little sheet of cut-outs so that you can change what’s on the screen.

All of the cabinets came with extra goodies in some form or another.

Persona 4

  • Alternate pieces that make the buttons and stick light blue instead of white
  • Cut-out 1/12 scale poster for the game.

Taiko: Drum Master cabinet came with

  • Alternate drums parts and sticks (brown instead of orange)
  • Two clear parts that I had no idea where they went/what they did

The iDOLM@STER

  • Cut-out 1/12 scale poster for the game
  • 3 other posters with the girls in categories (I never played it, so I don’t know if the whole Passion, Cute, and Cool categories existed before Cinderella Girls.)
  • 4 cut-out 1/12 scale game pamphlets/manuals?
  • 10 cut-out 1/12 scale player cards
  • 4 cut-out 1/12 scale fold-able promotional boxes.
  • There is a little storage area inside the cabinet to put all the extra screen cut-outs. I wish the Persona cabinet had this, but it’s too thin. Taiko doesn’t have it either, but the interior is big enough so that you can just drop them inside.

I’ll probably get images of these items up in another post later on.

If you were ever on the fence about getting these I hope this pushes you over the edge. They’re pretty cool, if I do say so myself. My background project is chugging along, but a comic featuring these babies might be coming up sooner. Depends on how much I want to catch up to Game of Thrones.

That’s it for now!

Later!

Hey hey! I celebrated the long awaited arrival of spring by leaving my cave and going outside. Got to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C. on Saturday, which I have never been to, since I’m normally always working (working in a certain museum gift shop on the mall during CB Season SUCKS! Glad I got out), Got to see some cosplayers, a taiko drum performance, archery & kendo, got to eat some yakisoba, ikayaki, and udon, and finally saw the cherry blossoms. My Spring Miku figma arrived just in time, so I brought her along with me. The Miku pics are obviously not taken with my phone (Galaxy S3). Photo credits go to my new siblings-in-law, who I asked to take these with their fancy real cameras, since my phone was almost dead. Boy, does it make me want to invest in a camera. The pics look so nice!

Today (Sunday) I went hiking with my friends at Great Falls Park. Since I had a backpack with me, I thought, “Might as well bring another figma with me for photo ops”. Brought Amy this time around. Climbing rocks, wandering through the woods, and taking figure pictures. All around good day. These two were taken with my standard phone camera, so that explains quality difference.

As for the figma comics, I gotta apologize. I finally got all of my old editing software off my dead computer. I also had to start scripting this stuff out now, since I plan on introducing multiple new figs at the same time, so coming up with a way to connect all the stories is tough. Finally, I’m building a new back-drop that’s a bit more…ambitious than my standard classrooms. Look forward to it!

THE iDOLM@STER: Cinderella Girls anime announced for 2015! Looks like they re-purposed a lot of the “Onegai! Cinderella” PV they revealed a few months back, not that I’m complaining. I guess I made the right move to collect all the Cinderella Girls figmas up to now.

"Kept you waiting, huh?"

Hey guys! It’s been a while since I posted anything cool, but I got an awesome package in the mail today. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m tired of just seeing the promo images of the Revoltech Snake Ground Zeroes ver., so I decided to grab one for myself. I had bought Ground Zeroes digitally the night it released, but I wanted a physical copy, because old habits die hard. And what better version to get than the Japanese Premium Package, bundled with a Peace Walker Novelization (it’s in Japanese, so I can read the hiragana and katakana, but no luck with the Kanji) and the Ground Zeroes Ver. of Snake.

As far as reviewing it, it’s really nothing new. The body from the neck down is the exact same Revoltech Snake everyone has. The headscupt, on the other hand, is based on Big Boss’s appearance in MGSV: Ground Zeroes. I’m not going to lie, upon opening the box, I was a little disappointed. I’ve gotten used to the anime’ish style of PW Snake, so the slicked back hair of GZ Snake caught me off guard. I also hoped that they would add a knife holster to his back like in the game, but that would be to expensive I guess. I should also have you know that I slightly altered mine already. Just cleaned up some excessive ink wash on the face and added a little lining around Snake’s good eye (he looks REALLY weird without it). The eye is moveable just like the other Metal Gear Revoltechs, taking after Raiden’s pick eye design, rather than PW Snake’s pegged eye. Aside from that, it’s the exact same figure.

Now for the accessories! Just like the PW Snake, he has the “!" sign, the "ZZZ”, the same assortment of hands, the dash effect part, the stands, and the revo box to store the hands. For the new accessories, Snake comes with:

  • AM MRS-4 Rifle with flashlight and suppressor (both non-removeable)
  • Wu Silent Pistol
  • Combat Knife
  • iDroid
  • Thermal/Night Vision Goggles
  • An angled pick to adjust Snake’s eye

I gotta say, the new look is really starting to grow on me. I also like that he doesn’t have a bandanna whose peg I don’t have to worry about breaking. Unlike Raiden White Armor ver., GZ Snake comes with new stuff, so I didn’t feel as bad getting it. As for recommending it, I really can’t right. Currently, he’s exclusively bundled with the MGSV: Ground Zeroes Premium Package…which is exclusive to Japan. Those two “exclusives” are two big strikes against affordability. Maybe eventually, it’ll become a regular release and everyone could have one, which would be fantastic. My theory is that when Phantom Pain releases, Revoltech will release a Punished Snake with his PP outfit (fatigues, shemagh, robo-hand). Then you can just head-swap it with your PW Snake body. Maybe I’m putting too much thought into it. Either way, I’d wait for a regular MGSV revoltech release…or that MGS1 Snake they teased.

That’s it for now! I’ve got a bigass backlog of figures to review and comics to make. Also have to get my editing programs back since my old computer died a month or so ago.

Here’s to you!

1/12スケールⅣ号戦車も商品化に向けて頑張ってます!!

If I buy the entire figma Ankou Team and mail in boxtops or something, can I have this? That would be great.
[Edit] Ok, so allegedly this is going to be a 1/12 Kit released by Max Factory. Assembly required? Not a problem!

Henrietta looks pretty cool in a regular sailor uniform. I really gotta start making my comics again. #Figma #Henrietta #GunslingerGirl
